Upbeat Dance and Music

Upbeat Music and Dance

At Monnow, we are very lucky to have Upbeat Music and Dance come into our school every week to work with all year groups.

Upbeat Music

Each class takes part in a music class every other week, either on a Wednesday or a Friday. In these music sessions, pupils are able to learn and develop new skills using a variety of different instruments including the taiko drums and glockenspiels. These new skills are then developed by the class teacher on the weeks that the classes are not being taught by Upbeat. Each class will be including the instrument they have learnt in their Christmas Concert.

Upbeat Dance

Each class takes part in an dance class every other week, either on a Wednesday or a Friday. In these dance sessions, pupils are able to learn new dance skills and plan their own dance routines. Across the school, classes are looking at different cultures across the world to inspire them with the dance routines, e.g. Punjabi music, street dance and the haka. These dance routines will be performed the last week of the Autumn Term for the rest of the school.

This is a very exciting time for music and dance at Monnow, one which we are all looking forward to.
