Summer Term 2017

Our focus for this Summer half term will be ‘Out and About’. The topic will be based around History, Geography and Science skills. We Will be setting up a Toy Museum in our role play area to learn about the past and this will be followed by a travel agents to support our learning about maps, globes and places in our world, that we would like to visit. We will be looking at inspirational people through history. We will also be continuing to develop ‘The Power of Yet’ which encourages children to try new things and not to give up and to hopefully teach them to understand that although they feel like they cannot do certain things, they can’t do it “yet”. We will be looking forward to our trip to Barry Island and doing lots of history and Geography work related to it including an information leaflet to encourage people to visit. Here are the children’s ideas for what they would like to learn about this term…

Thinking Challenge:

Create a double bubble map to compare and contrast toys now with toys in the past,

Creative challenge: Make a mini beast using reclaimed materials, look at these ideas to help you…

Can you make one of these ideas at home? You might need a grown up to help you find what you need and then you can have fun exploring and experimenting with your creations.

We will be using Reading Eggs during Literacy lessons to develop our reading and writing skills. During maths lessons we will be exploring Mathletics and completing tasks set by our class teacher.
